The first thing that broke was not my knee. In May 2026 I tore an ACL in a local cup tie in Pune, but three weeks before that my club had already told the squad it would not enter the next season, and then stopped paying. The knee went later. What went first was the structure that put me on a pitch every week. Since then I read every football story backwards: I start with the decision nobody photographed.

This week the story comes out of Chile's Primera B. San Luis de Quillota sit first on 53 points, two clear of Cobreloa, on a run of seven straight league wins. The coach is Humberto “Chupete” Suazo — the same Suazo who was once Chile's leading international scorer, who scored for Monterrey, whose nickname stuck because of how hungry he looked in the box. This is his first professional coaching job. The headline says he is one step from making history.
